Thank you for attending Lesson 5 of our 12 week Training Series! Please note that lessons do not have to be taken in numerical order. You are welcome to start anytime during the 3 month rotation.

Punch Volley Mechanic

  • Good ready position with paddle out in front and elbow in front of torso
  • Soft Hand, Soft Stable Wrist, Soft Body = Don’t lock your weight down – Feel the Flow
  • Contact point out in front about 12″ in front of your toes
  • No big backswing – just turn and punch
  • Balls coming straight at your body are a backhand volley

Wall Volley Drill

  • Stand in front of a wall about 5-6 feet away
  • 1 min forehand volleys only against the wall
  • 1 min backhand volleys only against the wall
  • 1 min alternating forehand and backhand against the wall

Partner Feed Overhead Drill

  • 1 player at the Non Volley Zone and 1 Player mid court and off to the side to allow hitting path
  • Mid Court Player tosses or hits a lob to Non Volley Zone Player
  • NVZ Player hits overhead smash
  • Make it harder by setting out targets
