Thank you for attending Lesson 10 of our 12 week Training Series! Please note that lessons do not have to be taken in numerical order. You are welcome to start anytime during the 3 month rotation.

Drop Shot Mechanic

  • Reach out with non paddle hand and load forward with non paddle leg
  • Soft hand, Soft stable wrist, Soft body
  • Contact point out in front- about 12″ in front of your front knee and low
  • Laid back wrist
  • Forward and Low with swing and weight transfer to keep the ball trajectory low
  • Just like tossing a ball or bean bag underhand

Mid Court Swing Volley Mechanic

  • Swing forward- not up
  • Contact Point in front – no backswing behind the body
  • Step forward into the shot to use your weight transfer for power
  • Multiple small prep steps are better than less but large steps
  • Prep Pause Swing

3 Ball Varied Feed Drill

  • Set up 3 cones: 1 at baseline, 1 at transition zone, 1 at NVZ.
  • 1 partner stands at NVZ with 3 balls and feeds/tosses a ball to each cone zone.
  • Variation #1: Partner hits a drop from the baseline walks forward to transition, hits a drop at transition, then a dink from NVZ
  • Variation #2: Partner hits a drop from the baseline walks forward to transition, hits a swing volley attack at  transition, then a Volley  from NVZ
  • Variation #3: Partner hits a drop from the baseline walks forward to transition, second and 3rd shot are varied by feeder to either be attacks or finesse – Be Ready!
