Thank you for attending Lesson 9 of our 12week Training Series! Please note that lessons do not have to be taken in numerical order. You are welcome to start anytime during the 3 month rotation.

Punch Volley Mechanic

  • Good ready position with paddle out in front and elbow in front of torso
  • Soft Hand, Soft Stable Wrist, Soft Body = Don’t lock your weight down – Feel the Flow
  • Contact point out in front about 12″ in front of your toes
  • No big backswing – just turn and punch
  • Balls coming straight at your body are a backhand volley

Broken Up Bowtie Drill

  • Part 1- Players volley straight on- forehand to backhand
  • Part 2- Players volley cross court – backhand to backhand
  • Part 3- Players volley straight on – backhand to forehand on the opposite side from round 1
  • Part 4- Players volley cross court – forehand to forehand

Overhead Mechanic

  • Drop back with paddle leg and turn sideways
  • Non paddle arm up pointing at the ball, paddle behind head
  • Side step to get under the ball-  DO NOT BACK PEDDLE
  • Reach up to contact ball out in front and snap over the ball

Overhead Drill

  • Partner hits or tosses a lob for you to practice your overhead mechanics
  • Set up targets for an extra challenge
