Thank you for attending Lesson 10 of our 12 week Training Series! Please note that lessons do not have to be taken in numerical order. You are welcome to start anytime during the 3 month rotation.

Drop Shot Mechanic

  • Reach out with non paddle hand and load forward with non paddle leg
  • Soft hand, Soft stable wrist, Soft body
  • Contact point out in front- about 12″ in front of your front knee and low
  • Laid back wrist
  • Forward and Low with swing and weight transfer to keep the ball trajectory low
  • Just like tossing a ball or bean bag underhand

Self Feed Drop Shot Drill

  • Self feed balls and practice dropping straight on and cross court
  • Use old towels as targets- Brains like Targets!

Approaching - When and How

  • Watch your opponent’s paddle prep:  red, yellow or green light?
  • Commit to your shot and move forward with follow through
  • Back up if needed
  • Keep paddle out in front to play defense if needed

Approach Game Drill

  • 1 player starts at NVZ, 1 player at baseline.
  • Player 1 at NVZ feeds a ball to Player  at baseline
  • Baseline player hits drop shot and approaches to play the point out at the NVZ.
  • Approaching player is the player that is in possession and can score.
  • If Approaching player loses the point then players switch starting points and the other player gets a chance to approach and score.
