Thank you for attending Lesson 12 of our 12week Training Series! Please note that lessons do not have to be taken in numerical order. You are welcome to start anytime during the 3 month rotation.

Serve Mechanic

  • Soft loose grip and arm
  • Contact point out in front low by your knee
  • Weight transfers forward into non paddle leg in front
  • Front shoulder and hip are positioned towards your target- follow through pointing at your target

Return Mechanic

  • Focus on contact point out in front.
  • Short Backswing- paddle butt to back hip
  • Stepping forward with non paddle leg on forehand and paddle leg with backhand.
  • Extending forward and not up.
  • Swing plane to the side – not pendulum swing

Serves & Returns 21 Drill

  • Place 3 cones on the sides of the service box to divide service box in three depths. Objective is to get returns deep past the cones.

  • Scoring: 1 point for zone closest to the NVZ, 2 points for middle zone, and 3 for zone closest to baseline. -1 point for any return that is in the net or out. Partners keep track of their own score.  Server and Returner are competing to see who can get to 21 first.

Self Feed Ground Strokes

  • Player self tosses ball in front of them and hits a forehand or backhand at targets
  • Make it Harder!!!  Introduce some movement.  Toss the ball away from you in different directions so you have to move and adjust to hit the drop shot.
  • Can toss forward or laterally/diagonally
