  • Swing forward and up using your legs
  • Contact Point in front -balanced and on the right ball
  • Ball needs to be in front of you- out of air or off the bounce
  • Focus on guiding and carrying the ball not striking the ball

Dinking with Lobs Drill

  • Players start straight on at NVZ
  • A dink rally is started – players wait for the right ball to hit the lob over their opponent
  • Players take turns who is hitting the lob
  • Players do not run down the lob in this exercise- they are aiming for the ring targets deep by the baseline
  • Keep track of how many times they hit a target

Topspin Dinking

Topspin: Speeds it up, kicks off bounce, offensive

  • Key – Laid Back Wrist and Push Forward
  • The higher the contact the more horizontal the paddle, lower contact more paddle tip down
  • Brush up the back of the ball but not over the ball

Around the Post Shot

  • Get there in time
  • Wait for the ball to drop- lower contact is better
  • Don’t over hit this – easy to get excited and hit it long
  • Targets – where to aim
    • Average feed-  go for feet or mid court low
    • Extra Wide feed – go angle into the court and low
    • Not super wide feed – try to curl it and into the back court
  • Defending – paddle low and block it back to where there is open court
